Location: New York

The Tax Senior will play a key role in supporting fund and management company tax compliance, reporting, and planning initiatives. This individual will partner closely with internal accounting, finance, investor services, and international teams, as well as external tax advisors, to ensure timely and accurate tax reporting across complex domestic and cross-border structures.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review book-to-tax reconciliations, estimated tax payments, and partnership allocations for fund and management company entities.
  • Calculate GP carry and waterfall allocations; track partnership and partner tax basis.
  • Coordinate with external tax service providers on the preparation and review of U.S. federal, state, local, and foreign tax returns, including Schedule K-1s and related work papers.
  • Review tax reporting items including promote allocations, book-to-tax differences, UBTI, FDAP, ECI, and withholding requirements.
  • Support partnership projections and allocation modeling to assist investors and GP partners with estimated tax planning.
  • Partner with international teams on U.S. reporting of foreign investments and reporting for non-U.S. investors.
  • Prepare income tax provisions for financial statement purposes, including ASC 740 documentation and disclosures.
  • Calculate quarterly tax distributions and support tax-related financial statement reporting.
  • Research tax treatment of complex financial instruments, investment structures (including FIRPTA and blocked/unblocked entities), and corporate actions.
  • Partner with accounting and fund administrators to ensure proper transaction booking and tax documentation.
  • Support investor tax inquiries in coordination with Investor Services.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of tax experience focused on private equity or real estate funds.
  • Prior experience at a Big 4 accounting firm and/or an established alternative asset manager preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; MST and/or CPA preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and tax reporting platforms.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
