We are looking for more than a standard GAAP researcher; we need a Financial Architect who excels as both an investigator and an operator in this role as the Head of Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting
.

Reporting to the VP, Accounting, you will be pivotal in ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations while resolving complex accounting issues tied to novel digital asset products.

In this role, you aren’t just maintaining books - you are building a definitive 'source of truth' within a complex, high-velocity trading environment. This is a 50/50 split between serving as a high-level technical expert and a hands- on 'systems plumber,' bridging the gap between cutting-edge trading desks and institutional-grade, public-ready financial statements.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Normalization:
Direct the forensic review and reconciliation of complex historical data to ensure a robust, "audit-ready" foundation.
  • On-Chain Intelligence:
Bridge the gap between raw custodial data and GAAP reporting, ensuring every transaction is traceable to its original source.
  • Advanced Technical Research:
Act as the internal authority on ASC 606 and 805, specifically regarding principal vs. agent nuances, M&A integrations, and DeFi yield protocols.
  • Capital Markets Readiness:
Lead the drafting of sophisticated financial disclosures and MD&A for potential registration statements and SEC engagement. Lead the drafting of S-1/F-1 prospectus disclosures.
  • Global Systems Optimization:
Design and implement SOPs for offshore teams while tightening the integration between our crypto sub-ledgers and Net Suite.
Target Experience
  • Background
    :
Experience transitioning from Big 4 Audit/Technical Desks into Accounting Advisory (e.g., CFGI, FTI, EY, KPMG, FTI) or In-House Accounting at a high-growth digital assets firm, Fin Tech start up, broker dealer or Investment Bank.
  • Reconstructive Mindset
    :
You enjoy the "puzzle" of building legal entity financials from high-volume, unstructured data sources.
  • Technical Stack
    :
Proficiency in Workiva, Net Suite, and crypto sub-ledgers (Luca, Tax Bit, or Bit Wave).
  • Subject Matter Expertise
    :
Direct experience with SEC Pre-clearance, Purchase Accounting (ASC 805), and DeFi Accounting.
  • Product Diplomacy
    :
The ability to partner with Trading and Biz Dev teams to assess the accounting impact of DeFi yields and "wrapped" assets before they launch.
  • Leadership
    :
Proven ability to create SOPs for offshore teams to improve month-end cadence.
Additional Information
  • Flexibility to work across different time zones during crucial periods such as month-end closes.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

The base pay for this role is expected to be between $230,000 and $291,000 in the New York City and San Francisco Bay Area. This expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role will also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance linked bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.

Actual compensation for a successful candidate will be determined based on a number of factors such as location, skillset, experience, qualifications and the level at which the candidate is hired.
