About the Firm:A global digital investing and trading platform operating across traditional securities and digital assets is seeking a Senior Director of Crypto Compliance to lead and scale its crypto compliance function in the U.S.
The firm supports a large, international user base and operates within a highly regulated environment. As its crypto and blockchain-enabled offerings continue to expand, the organization is making a long-term investment in senior compliance leadership to ensure strong governance, regulatory alignment, and sustainable growth.
The Role:This senior leadership position is responsible for setting and executing the compliance strategy for digital asset activities within a regulated broker-dealer and crypto-adjacent environment. The role sits at the intersection of regulatory engagement, product innovation, and enterprise risk management.
The Senior Director of Crypto Compliance will work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional partners to ensure the firm remains compliant with U.S. securities, commodities, and AML requirements while supporting new product development and market expansion.
Key Responsibilities:Regulatory Oversight and Licensing
- Maintain compliance with SEC, FINRA, NFA, and CFTC requirements applicable to digital asset activities
- Monitor and interpret evolving regulatory guidance related to crypto assets, tokens, stable coins, and staking
- Support ongoing compliance with New York–based crypto regulatory frameworks, including capital, safeguarding, and reporting expectations
Compliance Program Leadership
- Design, enhance, and scale supervisory and governance frameworks supporting crypto trading, custody, and staking products
- Serve as a senior regulatory contact for examinations, audits, and supervisory engagement
- Lead responses to regulatory inquiries and remediation efforts, as needed
Crypto-Specific Risk and Governance
- Evaluate the regulatory classification of digital assets and related products under U.S. securities laws
- Oversee AML and KYC controls tailored to crypto trading, custody, and staking risks
- Manage the implementation and use of blockchain analytics and transaction monitoring tools
- Establish and maintain incident response protocols for security events, hacks, or protocol failures
Training, Investigations, and Risk Mitigation
- Set the strategic direction for enterprise-wide compliance training related to digital asset risks
- Oversee complex investigations and integrate findings into broader risk management and control frameworks
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with product, engineering, security, and executive teams to enable compliant innovation
- Review wallet architecture, data retention practices, and key management frameworks alongside technical teams
- Provide practical, business-aligned compliance guidance in support of growth initiatives
- 8+ years of compliance experience within a registered broker-dealer or similarly regulated financial institution
- Strong experience with digital assets, crypto trading, custody, staking, or stable coins
- Deep knowledge of U.S. securities laws, FINRA rules, and AML/BSA requirements
- Proven experience managing regulatory examinations, audits, and complex supervisory interactions
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
- Exposure to crypto exchanges, custodians, staking platforms, or stablecoin issuers
- Familiarity with Reg ATS structures, token offerings, or international crypto regulatory frameworks
- Experience scaling compliance programs within technology-driven or rapidly growing organizations
- Knowledge of New York–specific crypto regulatory regimes
