Assistant Director of Finance - East Meadow, NY

Nassau University Medical Center is a Level I Trauma Center and a 530-bed teaching hospital, committed to elevating healthcare standards in our community.

We are looking for an experienced finance professional to support the planning, organization, and management of our financial and accounting operations. This role helps develop financial policies, enhance internal systems, and ensure accurate financial reporting throughout the organization.

• Assist in developing and implementing financial and accounting policies and procedures
• Support oversight of receipts, disbursements, and financial controls
• Coordinate financial functions with the data processing center
• Analyze financial systems and recommend improvements
• Participate in training programs and staff development
• Assist in negotiations with third-party carriers and government agencies
• Represent the organization at meetings and professional events

• Master’s degree in Accounting or Financial Management and 9+ years of professional accounting/financial management experience, including 5 years of supervisory experience

OR an additional year of qualifying experience in lieu of the Master’s (Bachelor’s must include major coursework in accounting or financial management)

• Strong knowledge of accounting and auditing principles
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex financial operations, and develop effective procedures
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills
