Company Description

Manchester Capital Management (MCM) is a premier, independent family office dedicated to sustaining the wealth, values, and legacies of our clients across generations. As a boutique firm owned by our employees and a select group of clients, we offer a rare combination of institutional‑grade scale and deeply personalized service. As an independent firm, we are free from the conflicts of interest inherent in a corporate parent that often prioritizes shareholder returns over client interests.

MCM primarily serves wealthy families and their related foundations, endowments, trusts, and corporate retirement plans, acting exclusively as our clients’ objective advocates and trusted advisors.

While MCM’s core competency is investment management, we provide a comprehensive suite of family office services, including wealth‑transfer strategies, philanthropic guidance, tax planning, family governance, educational programs, and Family Office CFO services. Our investment process is driven by our Strategy Group and Investment Committee, drawing on the collective wisdom of seasoned investment professionals. We are truly open architecture, with no proprietary products, and access to world‑class investment managers in traditional and alternative strategies globally.

Role Overview

We are seeking a seasoned investment professional to join our research team. This individual will be responsible for conducting manager due diligence across a wide range of traditional and alternative strategies. The ideal candidate will have a background as an allocator within a RIA, family office, or institutional plan environment and is comfortable operating within a small, high performing research team with a wide range of responsibilities.

Duties
  • Manager Platform: Support the Managing Director and Strategy Group in overseeing the firm’s investment manager platform. This includes monitoring existing managers, conducting in‑person and virtual meetings, attending webinars, reviewing quarterly letters, and updating our internal manager summary reports.
  • Sourcing: Identify and vet new high‑conviction opportunities in traditional and alternative strategies including hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, private debt, and real estate.
  • Investor Network: Leverage and expand MCM’s investor network through industry contacts, conferences, etc. to help source and vet best‑in‑class managers.
  • Internal Meetings: Actively participate and contribute to MCM’s Investment Committee meetings, prepare materials, provide insight, and coordinate manager presentations.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive due diligence and research files to ensure institutional‑grade compliance and institutional memory.
Secondary Duties
  • Wealth Manager Support: Partner with Wealth Managers to review client portfolios, provide commentary on managers, and attend client meetings to provide technical expertise.
  • Thought Leadership: Contribute to MCM’s intellectual capital by writing articles, quarterly commentaries, and white papers.
  • Business Development: Support the firm’s growth by providing investment insights for prospective client meetings and responding to client inquiries.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 years in investment experience, with at least 5 years specifically focused on manager due diligence. Experience writing comprehensive due diligence reports is critical.
  • Undergraduate degree required; CFA, CAIA, or advanced degrees preferred but not mandatory.
  • Ability to distill complex financial concepts into clear, concise, and persuasive narratives in both written and verbal form.
  • Strong understanding of investment concepts and familiarity with all major asset classes in both public and private markets.
  • Comfortable working in a boutique firm environment where one must wear many hats. Ability to work independently with minimal oversight while meeting deadlines and remaining a collaborative team player.
