The Institutional Capital Originator is responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with institutional investors, including pension funds, endowments, foundations, sovereign wealth funds, and other large capital providers.
This role focuses on identifying and originating investment opportunities, facilitating capital commitments, and supporting institutional investor engagement strategies. The position requires strong market knowledge, financial analysis skills, and excellent communication to present compelling investment opportunities.
The Institutional Capital Originator works closely with investment teams, portfolio managers, client relations, and legal/compliance teams to ensure successful capital placement and long-term investor satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Source and originate institutional capital commitments for investment strategies and funds
- Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional investors, consultants, and intermediaries
- Prepare investor presentations, pitch materials, and detailed investment summaries
- Support due diligence requests, investment committee documentation, and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with internal teams to structure investment products and facilitate capital deployment
- Track market trends, investor preferences, and emerging opportunities in institutional capital markets
- Monitor investor engagement and maintain pipeline reporting for senior management
- Develop strategies to expand and diversify institutional investor base
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
- Strong understanding of institutional investors, investment products, and capital markets
- Experience in fundraising, private equity, private credit, or institutional investor relations (preferred but not required)
- Advanced analytical skills with strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and relationship management skills
- Proficiency in Excel and CRM/investor management systems is a plus
- Ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives in fast-paced environments
- Strong interest in institutional capital origination, investment strategy, and client engagement
