About the Opportunity

Lower middle-market private equity firms and investment platforms within our network may seek analytically strong Transaction Opportunity Analysts to support the evaluation, prioritization, and advancement of new transaction opportunities.

Individuals in roles like this operate at the intersection of sourcing and execution—screening inbound and outbound deals, performing rapid financial and strategic assessments, and determining which opportunities merit deeper diligence. Teams are typically lean, offering meaningful exposure to how investment decisions are shaped at the earliest stages of a transaction.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities Transaction Screening & Opportunity Assessment

Review and evaluate inbound and sourced investment opportunities

Perform high-level financial and strategic screening analyses

Assess business models, growth drivers, and risk factors

Prioritize opportunities based on fit, return potential, and execution complexity

Financial Analysis & Modeling

Build and review preliminary operating models and transaction scenarios

Analyze returns, capital structures, and downside sensitivities

Support valuation work using comparable companies, precedent transactions, and simplified DCFs

Market & Deal Research

Conduct industry, sector, and competitive research to contextualize opportunities

Analyze historical performance, KPIs, customer concentration, and unit economics

Track transaction trends and comparable deal activity

Investment Committee & Deal Team Support

Prepare screening memos, opportunity summaries, and presentation materials

Communicate findings and recommendations to investment professionals

Support handoff of qualified opportunities into full diligence processes

Ideal Candidate Profile

Education & Technical Skills

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field

Strong Excel skills with comfort building and reviewing transaction models

Solid understanding of accounting, valuation, and private equity return drivers

Experience (Formal or Informal)

Prior internships or experience in investment banking, private equity, consulting, transaction advisory, or corporate finance is beneficial

Demonstrated interest in deal evaluation, financial analysis, or investment decision-making

Soft Skills & Mindset

Strong analytical judgment and attention to detail

Clear written and verbal communication skills

Ability to synthesize large amounts of information quickly
