Accounting Manager

Are you an experienced Accounting Manager ready to lead the full finance and accounting function for this New York branch? This is a great time to be joining this business with a growth plan in place to be a fully functional logistics operator!

This is a hands-on finance role in a lean team environment, partnering closely with the Branch Manager and reporting into the UK finance team. The position includes responsibility for a direct report and covers financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, cash flow management, and day-to-day accounts receivable and payable oversight.

This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys operational accounting, ownership, and visibility in a growing logistics business.

• Branch P&L and balance sheet
• Monthly financial reporting to UK head office and local management
• Profitability analysis by customer and job costing review
• Month-end close including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
• Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Cash flow forecasting and working capital management
• Maintain financial controls, processes, and documentation
• Support external audit and year-end tax processes
• Payroll processing and review
• Daily accounts payable processing and invoice entry as required
• Investigate unprocessed or disputed invoices
• Weekly check runs and payment processing
• Credit card reconciliations
• Daily and monthly customs duty payments
• Vendor setup and maintenance
• Post daily cash receipts and reconcile customer accounts
• Support collections activity and customer follow-up
• Investigate billing discrepancies and resolve customer queries
• New customer account setup and approval
• People and Stakeholder Management
• Partnering with Branch Manager and operations teams

• CPA qualified or actively pursuing CPA would be an ideal
• 5+ years of hands-on accounting / finance experience
• Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, 3PL, warehousing, or supply chain strongly preferred
• Advanced Excel skills essential
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
