Are you an experienced Accounting Manager ready to lead the full finance and accounting function for this New York branch? This is a great time to be joining this business with a growth plan in place to be a fully functional logistics operator!
This is a hands-on finance role in a lean team environment, partnering closely with the Branch Manager and reporting into the UK finance team. The position includes responsibility for a direct report and covers financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, cash flow management, and day-to-day accounts receivable and payable oversight.
This role is ideal for a finance professional who enjoys operational accounting, ownership, and visibility in a growing logistics business.
Key Responsibilities- Branch P&L and balance sheet
- Monthly financial reporting to UK head office and local management
- Profitability analysis by customer and job costing review
- Month-end close including accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
- Budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Cash flow forecasting and working capital management
- Maintain financial controls, processes, and documentation
- Support external audit and year-end tax processes
- Payroll processing and review
- Daily accounts payable processing and invoice entry as required
- Investigate unprocessed or disputed invoices
- Weekly check runs and payment processing
- Credit card reconciliations
- Daily and monthly customs duty payments
- Vendor setup and maintenance
- Post daily cash receipts and reconcile customer accounts
- Support collections activity and customer follow-up
- Investigate billing discrepancies and resolve customer queries
- New customer account setup and approval
- People and Stakeholder Management
- Partnering with Branch Manager and operations teams
- CPA qualified or actively pursuing CPA would be an ideal
- 5+ years of hands-on accounting / finance experience
- Experience in logistics, freight forwarding, customs brokerage, 3PL, warehousing, or supply chain strongly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills essential
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven
