We service our clients primarily in the NYC area as well nationally through our AAFA network (45 financial staffing affiliates throughout the U.S. and Canada).
Our client is a Family Office in New York City. This is a hybrid position with expectations to be in the office up to 3x a week.
About the Family Office:Our client is a well-established family office dedicated to managing and preserving wealth across generations. The office oversees a diverse portfolio, including investments, real estate, trusts, and philanthropic endeavors. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Manager to lead and optimize tax strategies while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Position Summary:The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax planning, compliance, and reporting for the family office and related entities. This individual will play a key role in advising family members, coordinating with external advisors, and ensuring the most effective tax strategies are in place.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize liabilities and enhance tax efficiencies.
- Oversee the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporate entities.
- Ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations while identifying opportunities for tax savings.
- Work closely with investment, legal, and estate planning teams to align tax strategies with financial goals.
- Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Provide tax guidance on philanthropic initiatives, charitable foundations, and gifting strategies.
- Stay current with tax legislation and proactively advise on potential impacts.
- Lead tax audits and correspondence with tax authorities as needed.
- Assist with estate planning and wealth transfer strategies to optimize tax implications for future generations.
- Mentor and oversee junior tax staff within the family office.
- CPA, JD, or MST preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in tax planning and compliance, preferably within a family office, public accounting firm, or private wealth management setting.
- Expertise in individual, trust, estate, partnership, and corporate taxation.
- Strong knowledge of tax laws, estate planning strategies, and wealth transfer techniques.
- Experience working with ultra-high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) and multi-generational families.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with family members and advisors with discretion and professionalism.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in tax software and financial reporting tools.
