Staff Accountant

Ascendo Resources is currently seeking a Staff Accountant for a full-time role based in Lower Manhattan, New York. Salary range is up to $80,000.

• Building a responsive, food network
• Demonstrating dignified, community-centered food access
• Advocating for systemic change toward a more equitable food future

• Manage full-cycle AP/AR
  , including vendor onboarding, invoice processing, collections, and payment tracking
• Record journal entries and maintain general ledger in Quick Books
• Perform credit card itemization, fixed asset tracking, depreciation & amortization
• Assist with monthly Budget vs. Actual (BvA) reporting
• Support regulatory filings and entity compliance

• Track and reconcile restricted gifts
• Manage in‑kind donation accounting and donor documentation
• Develop financial reporting related to grant utilization

• Lead monthly close activities including reconciliations and variance analysis
• Prepare documentation and serve as liaison for annual external audit
• Maintain and improve accounting SOPs
• Produce GAAP‑compliant financial reports for leadership

• 2–4 years of accounting experience (AP, AR, bookkeeping, financial reporting)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Experience with nonprofit accounting and grant tracking highly preferred
• Excellent communication skills and comfort participating in AR collections
