Senior Grant Accountant
Location: New York, NY
Job Type: Full Time
Schedule: Monday through Friday, Standard business hours
Salary: DoE
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Senior Grant Accountant to manage revenue and grant accounting functions and support budgeting and reporting processes. The ideal candidate is analytical, adaptable, and highly skilled in grant compliance, financial reporting, and funder requirements.
Key Responsibilities Revenue/Grant Accounting- Maintain a portfolio of grants and review financial reports and invoices prepared by Grant Accountants to ensure accurate and timely submission to government and private funders.
- Review invoices through the accounts payable process to ensure proper coding and compliance with funding requirements.
- Prepare monthly journal entries for grant revenue, expenses, and indirect allocations.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Program, Legal, and Development, on contract registration, grant requirements, reporting, and compliance.
- Ensure adherence to government and foundation funding regulations.
- Prepare and review journal entries and allocations as needed.
- Assist the Director of Budgets and Grants Management with annual budgets, projections, and ad hoc financial requests.
- Support preparation for funder desk audits and the organization’s annual audit, including the Single Audit under OMB Uniform Guidance.
- Analyze revenue and expenses against budgets to identify variances and trends.
- Perform additional duties as required.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business required.
- Minimum 5 years of grant accounting experience preferred, including familiarity with NYC/NYS funders such as DFTA, DYCD, OTDA.
- Strong proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and IF functions) required.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and general computer literacy.
- Strong critical thinking skills and understanding of financial impacts across programs and contracts.
