Tax Associate – Fund Formation & Asset Management
Location: New York, NY (with secondment to London)
An elite global firm is seeking a high‑calibre tax associate to join its New York‑based Tax Group, working closely with a US partner in London. This role offers a rare opportunity for an international secondment, exposure to cross‑border tax matters, and hands‑on experience with leading asset managers across private credit, real estate, infrastructure and private equity.
Key Responsibilities- Advise on the tax aspects of fund formation, structuring and compliance across private credit, real estate, infrastructure and private equity funds.
- Support asset managers on compensation structures, regulatory considerations and operational tax issues.
- Work with partners and clients on complex cross‑border tax planning, including time spent on secondment in London.
- Draft and review tax structuring memoranda, partnership and fund documentation and key transactional agreements.
- Collaborate with global colleagues on sophisticated and multi‑jurisdictional matters.
- A tax associate with 3–5 years’ experience in fund formation and asset management, preferably from a top‑tier law firm.
- Strong academic credentials with a demonstrated interest in asset management and cross‑border tax.
- Skilled in analysing complex tax issues and communicating them clearly to clients.
- Organised, proactive and comfortable working within an international team environment.
- JD class years 2019 to 2021.
Salary Range: $260,000 – $390,000
Actual salary will depend on experience, with a comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, life cover, 401(k), backup childcare and eldercare, and robust professional development support.
