Financial Controller

A multi-service, rate-regulated utility is seeking a hands‑on and strategic Financial Controller to lead all accounting, financial reporting, and regulatory financial functions. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the financial operations, supporting rate activities, overseeing capital project accounting, and partnering with executive leadership to ensure the long-term financial stability of the organization.

This role is best suited for a professional with utility industry experience (electric, water, wastewater, gas, or energy) and a strong understanding of the financial and regulatory framework in a service‑based infrastructure environment.

• Oversee all accounting operations including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, AP/AR, payroll, and fixed assets
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Maintain accounting records in compliance with applicable regulatory standards (FERC / NARUC / state PUC as applicable)
• Support rate case preparation, cost‑of‑service analysis, and regulatory reporting
• Lead the annual budgeting process and long‑term financial planning
• Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to support capital investment and operational needs

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• 3+ years within a utility, energy, water, wastewater, electric cooperative, or regulated environment
• CPA or CMA Preferred
• Familiarity with FERC or NARUC chart of accounts
• Experience with ERP systems and/or utility billing platforms
