Financial Institutions Group Vice President​/Director

Overview

Responsible for supporting the origination, structuring, and execution of lending mandates within M&T’s Financial Institutions Group with particular focus on Fintech.

• Demonstrated ability to develop C-Suite relationships, corporate finance expertise, strong transaction execution skills, and deep credit knowledge.
• Help model and structure transactions across the Fin Tech ecosystem.
• Drive conversations with clients, senior bankers, credit officers, underwriters, rating agencies, and attorneys.
• Work closely on mentoring and training junior bankers on transaction execution including financial statement analysis, cash flow valuation, industry research, and marketing materials for clients and other internal / external stakeholders.
• Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.
• Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand. Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable

Maximizes portfolio’s profitability through fee income generation and ensuring a high credit quality portfolio within Fin Tech. Responsible for keeping credit team and senior management abreast of deteriorating credit and identification of trends. Negotiate, structure, and coordinate approval of credit facilities.

Coach / mentor junior team members. Active participation in industry conferences and seminars with broad industry knowledge and contacts. Excellent partnership with solution partners and consistent collaboration on clients and prospects.

Provide analytical and transaction execution support to grow FIG’s lending book while maximizing DCM/ECM, Treasury Management, and Wilmington Trust fee opportunities for M&T.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field of study.
• 10+ years of experience in the financial services industry; investment banking preferred.
• Previous sales management experience.
• Knowledge of banking credit principals.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills.
• Relationship Management skills.
  FINRA Series 79 required or the ability to secure this license within 6 months of hire
