The Assistant Director of Finance plays a critical leadership role within Anderson Center for Autism’s Fiscal Department, supporting the agency’s mission by ensuring financial integrity, regulatory compliance, and strong fiscal stewardship across all programs and affiliates. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), this role oversees financial reporting, rate analysis, cost reporting, and payroll-related compliance while actively training and developing finance staff to ensure continuity and succession within the department.

Pay Range: $82,670.00 - $87,870.00 Salary;
Based on experience
- Provide leadership oversight for agency-wide financial operations, including rate analysis, annual cost reports (CFRs, SSOPs), monthly internal financial statements, and regulatory reporting for all Anderson Center for Autism programs and affiliates
- Ensure compliance with OPWDD, OCFS, and NYSED fiscal regulations through accurate reporting, timely submissions, and ongoing review of rates, property reimbursements, and grant or contract requirements
- Oversee preparation, review, and analysis of internal financial statements, including allocations, general ledger reconciliations, and balance sheet integrity, with regular reporting to executive leadership and the Board of Directors
- Direct payroll‑related financial oversight, including monitoring payroll expenses, reviewing FTE reporting, and ensuring compliance with state and federal allocation requirements
- Supervise, train, and develop finance staff across accounting, payroll, accounts receivable, and reporting functions, supporting cross‑training, knowledge transfer, and succession planning within the department
- Coordinate and oversee completion of IRA Personal Allowance audits, including summarizing findings and reporting outcomes to leadership and required departments
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting for grants, contracts, and NYSED portal requirements, collaborating with internal departments and external regulators or grantors as needed
- Coordinate preparation of schedules, work papers, and documentation for year‑end financial audits and external auditors
- Support fiscal process improvements, implementation of new systems, and adherence to standard operating and fiscal procedures across the department
- Serve as a key backup to the Chief Financial Officer and remain current on fiscal regulations and best practices through professional development, conferences, and trainings
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required
- 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi‑program, regulated nonprofit or human services environment
- Strong leadership, management, and staff development skills
- Demonstrated experience with cost reporting, rate analysis, financial statements, and audits
- Knowledge of NYS regulatory environments (OPWDD, OCFS, NYSED preferred)
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
