Job Title

Manager, Financial Operations

Purpose of the Job

The role requires a detail‑oriented, driven leader with proven experience in a P&C insurance carrier or MGU/MGA environment with hands‑on knowledge of specialty insurance and reinsurance products and related credit control, bordereau processing and related cash management activities. The incumbent will be the primary responsible position for overseeing financial control and process optimization efforts in all assigned financial operations areas, partnering with the Ambridge Senior Finance Director, Ambridge Legal, and Ambridge Operations to drive alignment with Ambridge and Amynta initiatives.

Accountabilities
  • Manage all assigned areas of Ambridge financial operations including but not limited to technical accounting, disbursements, credit control and controls; liaise directly with Ambridge finance managers and Amynta colleagues on process optimization and assist with efforts on financial control design, execution and implementation.
  • Manage the written premium booked to the (P&L) and premium signed (balance sheet) bordereau processed to capacity partners, delivering reporting accuracy for analysis and trends.
  • Manage offshore and onshore teams who create premium invoices and match cash applied to open invoices in the underwriting system.
  • Prepare flux‑analysis explanations on material items related to the Transactional P&L and balance sheet.
  • Liaise with internal departments (operations, underwriting, claims) to resolve premium‑related billing/collection discrepancies.
  • Monthly review of the aged receivables on the balance sheet and provide management with related insights.
  • Ensure Ambridge financial, legal and corporate operations maintain a well‑controlled and efficient financial reporting process in support of Amynta.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Ambridge credit control, leveraging existing technology and skills and establishing positive relationships with product teams, brokers and internal colleagues.
  • Oversee assigned staff, review credit control reporting, ARC aging, unapplied cash, and assist with the development of reporting and follow‑up activities with product teams.
  • Work collaboratively with the Ambridge COO and operations team on operational reporting enhancements related to premium, claims, reinsurance products, delegated authority and related operational information.
  • Provide oversight of key technical accounting areas in reinsurance accounting, credit control, insurance credit control, delegated authority operations and claims operations, inclusive of funding requirements.
  • Assist Claims operations with claims payment and related systems, ensuring appropriate controls are efficient and effective and documenting in accordance with local and Amynta requirements.
  • Collaborate with Amynta financial controls teams to align controls and ensure appropriate governance.
  • Assist with ad‑hoc work and strategic projects as required, challenging the business and framing insightful output.
Qualifications
  • Finance or accounting background with 10+ years in the property‑casualty industry.
  • CPA or advanced finance or accounting degree preferred.
  • Strong P&C product insurance and/or reinsurance experience from either a carrier or MGA/MGU.
  • Solid experience in business performance management disciplines, business process improvement, balanced scorecards or KPI reporting.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the business.
  • Experienced people manager with strong management skills, comfortable managing targets and workloads.
  • Strong communicator, able to discuss complex concepts with both expert and non‑expert colleagues.
  • Flexible approach to work, able to use initiative while managing multiple ongoing projects.
  • Ability to prioritize workload and manage time effectively to ensure successful completion of work for both self and team.
  • Ability to learn internal systems, tools and models quickly, and lead process improvement, internal control and compliance efforts in partnership with Ambridge and Amynta.
