Job Summary
Morningstar DBRS is seeking a Vice President for the ABS – Surveillance team in the New York office. The role focuses on monitoring and rating asset‑backed securities, providing expertise across more than 40 ABS segments and supporting the team’s rating operations.
Responsibilities- Analyze credit risk in ABS via collateral/loss analysis, transaction modeling, and review of legal documentation.
- Manage the assigned portfolio of credits to surveil.
- Prepare and present materials to the rating committee, including analytical conclusions and recommendations.
- Collaborate with the cash‑flow modeling team to run appropriate stress scenarios.
- Mentor and train junior analysts.
- Assist in developing and publishing topical research.
- Coordinate with other teams to support credit rating analysis, research, and administration.
- Learn departmental techniques and automation, and extend in‑place automation.
- Help build databases and analytical tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, accounting, economics, or a related quantitative discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in Structured Finance, preferably with an ABS background.
- Excellent quantitative, writing, and communication skills.
- Curiosity and capability to transform intuition into usable tools for efficiency.
- Knowledge of a programming language other than VBA (nice to have).
- Ability to balance multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Ability to analyze large data sets and deliver largely error‑free conclusions.
Base Salary: $–$ per year. Incentive Target: 30% of base. The position includes a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, 401(k) match up to 6% of salary, paid family and parental leave, and other wellness programs.
