Citi Wealth Investment Solutions is seeking a Head of Direct Private Investments (DPI), a key growth pillar for our Investment Solutions business. The candidate will report to the Head of Alternatives and Investment Manager Solutions and lead our efforts to originate, evaluate, approve, and distribute compelling direct private investment opportunities for Family Offices and other sophisticated Citi Private Bank clients. The Head of DPI will also collaborate closely with Citi Wealth’s Integrated Client Solutions (ICS) team, Chief Investment Office, Platform Management team, and Sales Specialists, as well as other key functional partners that support the broader Investment Solutions business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic development and implementation of Citi Wealth’s Direct Private Investing (DPI) activities, including team leadership, talent management (attracting, motivating, developing, and retaining talent), infrastructure development, defining product identity and brand, and ensuring an optimal client and banker experience.
  • Originate direct private investment opportunities through personal networks and Citi’s internal networks (e.g., Investment Bank, Capital Markets, PERE and HF teams, Family Office network), as well as external sources like private equity sponsors and CPB clients.
  • Manage the deal pipeline, including conducting initial due diligence, comprehensive review of potential transactions (valuation, terms, structure), sign-off on proposed deals and documentation, and presentation to Investment Operating Committees for approval.
  • Work with the ICS Team and large Family Office clients to facilitate the onboarding process, including ISDA negotiation and documentation requirements.
  • Oversee the monitoring of past transactions and maintain relationships with deal sponsors.
  • Collaborate on the distribution of DPI deals with Sales Specialists teams across regions to identify client appetite, requiring close coordination with the broader UHNW Banker and IC communities.
  • Own the DPI product program, leading the development and enhancement of its framework, governance processes, and ensuring strict adherence to all global regulatory, legal, and compliance standards in partnership with control functions. This includes proactively managing risk and fostering a strong control environment.
  • Stay abreast of market trends and news, develop proactive views, and communicate conclusions/recommendations concerning pertinent sectors and macroeconomic developments.
  • Partner with other global, regional, and country leaders to share best practices and drive business strategies, solutions, and client-centric approaches to differentiate Citi and achieve substantial growth targets.
  • Serve as a senior spokesperson and thought leader for Citi DPI, elevating the Firm's profile and brand through active engagement at industry conferences, media interactions, client presentations, and the delivery of compelling market thought leadership (e.g., white papers, commentary, proprietary research) on private market trends.
  • Provide centralized oversight and strategic direction across all DPI activity pillars, ensuring coordination across functional teams, consistent deal standards, and an unified client experience. Develop and maintain standard reporting metrics and dashboards for senior management to track pipeline activity and deal performance.

Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity origination or similar roles, with a demonstrated ability to source, diligence, structure, assess, negotiate, package, and market transactions of particular interest to Family Office clients.
  • Extensive experience in evaluating company investment opportunities with a proven track record of assessing quantitative and qualitative investment parameters to meet target client investor appetites.
  • Relevant financial analysis and corporate finance skills related to the evaluation of early-stage private companies.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, including Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency, with familiarity in working with large amounts of data.
