Position Summary
Assistant Director – Reimbursement at NYU Langone Health.
This role assists in planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the Reimbursement department. The candidate will interact with hospital personnel regarding financial issues and analysis, support personnel development, and process financial information.
Job Responsibilities- Develop partnerships between Finance and other operational departments, improve information reporting, identify and coordinate resources to meet customer needs and deadlines, and communicate clearly and concisely with all customers.
- Collect, analyze, and present complex data from multiple sources to assist decision making, ensure data quality and integrity, and efficiently organize tasks with appropriate resources.
- Assist in directing the Reimbursement Department, review work performed by reports, provide leadership and direction, motivate staff, assign tasks, and implement departmental policies, procedures, and budgets.
- Review and redesign internal processes utilizing technology, assess time required for work, manage multiple tasks and projects, and ensure filing deadlines are satisfied.
- Identify financial opportunities and risks proactively, communicate findings timely and effectively, and demonstrate creative thinking for solutions.
- Show trustworthiness, integrity, initiative, and confidentiality when handling hospital information, take ownership of responsibilities, and exhibit a strong work ethic.
- Foster a positive work atmosphere, interact courteously and professionally with administration, peers, staff, and other Medical Center personnel, support cross‑department objectives, and maintain a pleasant demeanor.
- Understand financial and operational issues, decision support and cost accounting methodologies, regulatory and reimbursement issues, and ensure compliance and regulatory requirements are met.
- Maintain third‑party rate accounts, determine necessary accruals and balances, review Medicare and Medicaid payment rates, Indigent Care Pool receipts, PIP receipts, and HCRA pool payments for accuracy and proper accrual.
- Coordinate and assist with the preparation of federal and state cost reports and other regulatory reports.
- Assist with audits, review regulatory changes and impact calculations, and coordinate Medicare wage index and occupational mix schedules.
- Assist with the preparation, filing, and monitoring of appeals.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 7–10 years of managerial experience in hospital governmental reimbursement.
- Working knowledge of hospital cost reports, reimbursement rates, and general operations of the reimbursement department.
- Supervisory experience.
- Effective communication with all organizational levels.
- Additional relevant experience in reimbursement or related hospital finance functions.
