Product Manager, Card & Expense Management Company Description
Exponent is the fastest growing financial technology platform built for franchise and independent brand operators. We provide automated expense management, industry-specific charge cards, and flexible financing in one integrated platform. Trusted by leading U.S. QSR franchisees, Exponent gives operators faster access to capital and real-time insight into the financial performance of their multi-unit portfolios.
Role DescriptionReporting to the CEO, you will own Exponent's card and expense management product — the corporate charge card and spend platform that franchise operators use to run their day-to-day finances. The card is live, ramping, and earning strong feedback from operators. We now need an owner to take it to the next level. The card is the front door to Exponent.
It is how operators control spend across every location, earn flat cash back on every dollar, and feed clean transaction data into the rest of the platform. You will own this product end to end: the charge card itself, the controls and approvals that sit on top of it, and the expense management experience that turns raw spend into reconciled, categorized financial data.
You will set the roadmap, run discovery with operators, and ship the features that move the product from a strong launch to the category standard for multi-unit spend.
This is a full-time in-office role in either our New York or Boston office.
What You'll Do- Own the roadmap for the corporate charge card and the expense management platform, from discovery through launch and iteration.
- Build the card experience operators rely on: issuance, spend controls, limits, approvals, and cash back, designed for businesses running spend across many locations and entities.
- Build the expense management workflow: receipt capture, transaction categorization, approval routing, and reconciliation that flows into the operator's books with no manual cleanup.
- Partner with credit and risk on the mechanics that sit underneath the card — credit lines, underwriting inputs, and the controls that keep the program sound.
- Run discovery directly with franchise operators. Understand how they manage spend across their portfolios today and turn that into a product they adopt without training.
- Define the metrics that matter for the product and hold the roadmap to them.
- Partner with engineering and design to ship quickly without sacrificing quality or security.
- Work within the compliance and data governance standards required of a regulated financial services platform, including the card program, sponsor bank relationship, and KYB/KYC onboarding.
- Communicate roadmap, tradeoffs, and timelines clearly to engineers, operators, leadership, and partners.
- Startup experience. You have built product in an early-stage environment and are comfortable owning ambiguity, moving fast, and shipping directly without a large team around you.
- Proven ownership of a credit or charge card product. You have taken a credit or charge card product to production and run it — issuance, controls, rewards, and the credit and risk mechanics underneath — and you understand the full lifecycle deeply. This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to stay close to the product, not step back from it.
- Strong understanding of fintech, credit, and consumer. You understand how credit products work, how fintech platforms are built and operated, and how to deliver a consumer-grade experience that non-technical users adopt immediately.
- Strong product and UX judgment, especially for non-technical users. Operators need spend, controls, cash back, and reconciled expenses surfaced in a way that is instant and intuitive.
- Comfortable working with financial data and partnering with credit, risk, and compliance.
- Able to explain roadmap, tradeoffs, and product decisions clearly to stakeholders with varied technical backgrounds.
- Competitive base salary, bonus, and meaningful equity in a funded Series A company.
- This is a hybrid role. We have offices in NYC (Flatiron) and Boston, with the majority of the role's time being spent in one of the two offices. We value the collaboration and team dynamic that being in-person creates.
- Company-sponsored benefits including PTO, healthcare, 401(k), and HSA/FSA.
