Aker is seeking part-time associates to support acquisitions, asset management, and capital markets activity across a growing multifamily portfolio. This role is designed for candidates currently enrolled in a top-tier MBA, MSRED, or equivalent graduate program who are interested in gaining experience while completing their degree. Associates will work on live transactions and strategic asset management initiatives. The ideal candidate has a foundation in investment banking, private equity, or real estate principal investing and is looking to build on that experience with hands-on exposure to sourcing, underwriting, closing, and managing value-add multifamily investments.

This is a rolling, part-time engagement structured around the academic calendar with the potential for a defined path toward a full-time role upon graduation.

Summary

Responsibilities

Acquisitions & Capital Markets

Source and screen on-market and off-market multifamily acquisition opportunities across target geographies.

Build, audit, and refine property-level financial models; pressure-test assumptions, downside scenarios, and capital structures to support investment conviction.

Support live transactions from LOI through closing, including diligence coordination, third-party report management, and closing pr orations.

Assist with debt and equity structuring, lender and investor materials, and capital partner coordination.

Prepare investment memoranda, market research, comp analyses, and supporting materials for investment committee review.

Support pipeline management and broker relationship development.

Asset Management

H elp maintain one current, point-in-time business plan per investment with clear assumptions and version control.

Assist with internal performance reporting, cash flow projections, and variance analysis grounded in economics.

Support refinance, recapitalization, and disposition efforts .

Assist with preparation of monthly investor/lender updates and quarterly investor letters.

Support cross-portfolio analytical projects including insurance, tax optimization, and capital structure initiatives.

Coordinate with operations, finance, and property management to ensure clean information flow between execution and investment oversight.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a top-tier MBA, MSRED, or equivalent graduate program.

2 –4 years of prior experience in real estate investment banking, private equity, principal investing, or acquisitions.

Advanced financial modeling skills with the ability to work independently.

Strong AI skillset and comfort using AI based tools .

Strong commercial judgment, urgency, and ownership mindset.

Comfort interacting with brokers, lenders, investors, and senior stakeholders in a lean, high-accountability environment.

Preferred:

Experience with value-add and/or core+ multifamily investments.

Exposure to operationally focused asset management or business plan execution.
