Overview
Granite Shares is a leading independent ETF and ETP issuer with a global footprint across the US, UK, and Europe. We specialize in innovative, high-conviction investment products — including leveraged and inverse ETPs — giving investors powerful tools to express views on equities, commodities, and digital assets. Our entrepreneurial culture rewards ownership, expertise, and impact.
Role OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned Senior Operations Manager to join our NYC office and take ownership of our end-to-end operations function. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for a driven professional ready to build and lead a team from the ground up. You will be the operational backbone of the firm — overseeing trade support, derivatives operations, margin and collateral management, counter party relationships, and process infrastructure.
Reporting to senior leadership, you will shape the operational strategy as Granite Shares continues to scale.
- Own the full trade operations lifecycle for OTC derivatives including total return equity swaps, flex options, futures, and other equity derivatives
- Oversee trade confirmation, reconciliation, novation, and settlement processes across all OTC products
- Manage onboarding documentation: tax, SSIs and DF questionnaires.
- Ensure compliance with EMIR, Dodd-Frank, and other applicable derivatives reporting obligations
- Lead daily margin call operations across cleared and bilateral OTC derivatives portfolios
- Manage initial margin (IM) and variation margin (VM) workflows, including SIMM calculations and disputes
- Optimize collateral allocation strategies to minimize funding costs and operational risk
- Oversee relationships with prime brokers
- Recruit, onboard, and develop a high-performing operations team as the firm scales
- Define team structure, roles, and career development pathways
- Set operational standards and KPIs; foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Serve as a senior escalation point and mentor across the operations function
- Drive automation and process improvement initiatives to reduce operational risk and manual touchpoints
- Maintain and enhance relationships with administrators, custodians, and technology vendors
- Develop and maintain operational policies, procedures, and business continuity plans
- Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Finance, and Portfolio Management on cross-functional initiatives
Required
- 8+ years of experience in financial services operations, with significant depth in OTC derivatives
- Deep expertise in OTC swap products (particularly equity swaps and options) and their operational workflows
- Hands-on experience managing margin calls, collateral management, SWIFT messaging, and counter party dispute resolution
- Solid knowledge of ISDA/CSA documentation, clearing mandates, and derivatives reporting (EMIR/Dodd-Frank) and S&P/Markit Counter party Manager system.
- Demonstrated experience managing or mentoring operations staff
- Knowledge of industry platforms such as Murex, Calypso, Bloomberg TOMS, Acadia, or Tri Optima
- Exceptional attention to detail, analytical thinking, and ability to work under pressure
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience at an ETF issuer, ETP provider, hedge fund, or asset management firm
- Familiarity with listed derivatives (futures and options) in addition to OTC products
- Working knowledge of digital assets and crypto-linked derivatives operations
- Advanced degree (MBA, CFA, FRM) is a plus
- Experience implementing or migrating operations technology platforms
- A founding leadership role with direct influence on team structure and firm strategy
- Competitive base salary with a performance-driven bonus structure
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits
- Collaborative, entrepreneurial culture with a lean and expert team
- Exposure to innovative financial products at the frontier of the ETP industry
- Prime NYC office location with a vibrant, fast-paced working environment
