Payroll Tax Manager

Role Overview

Payroll Tax Manager – fully onsite, Midtown office. Tenure: 6‑month contract (budgeted until year end). Rate: $73‑78/hr W2.

Schedule:

M‑F 9AM‑6PM, lunch break, occasional OT during peak cycles.

• Oversee timely and accurate processing of federal, state, and local payroll tax payments across multiple jurisdictions.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual tax filings and reconciliations, ensuring full compliance and accuracy.
• Serve as primary lead for state payroll tax audits and agency inquiries, including resolution of notices.
• Perform W‑2 and wage reconciliation activities, including adjustments and amended filings as needed.
• Act as key liaison with external payroll tax vendors, ensuring data integrity and alignment with internal systems.

• 5+ years of experience managing high‑volume, multi‑state payroll tax environments.
• Strong expertise in U.S. payroll tax regulations, including hands‑on experience with NY and CA jurisdictions.
• Experience working with ADP Smart Compliance and SAP ECP Payroll desired.
• Advanced Excel skills, with ability to analyze, reconcile, and validate large data sets.
• Proven ability to navigate complex payroll tax issues, including adjustments, notices, and compliance gaps.
