Location: New York

Our client, a premier private credit investment platform with a track record of strong performance, is seeking a Vice President of Credit Tax. This high-visibility role offers significant ownership for tax structuring, compliance, and advisory across direct lending funds, BDCs, CLOs, and special situations. The position operates within a deeply collaborative, lean tax team, providing leadership and driving tax efficiency for new product launches, investor reporting, and portfolio transactions.

You will partner closely with senior investment, legal, and finance leaders on a rapidly scaling credit platform, and have direct influence on process improvement and regulatory strategy.

Job Responsibilities
  • Advise on fund formation and structuring including master-feeder vehicles, blockers/SPVs, carried interest allocations, and tax-efficient solutions for US and non-US investors
  • Lead tax compliance, planning, and structuring for direct lending funds, BDCs (RIC qualification/maintenance), CLOs, special situations, and evergreen/perpetual-life vehicles
  • Partner with investment, finance, legal, and central tax groups on tax input for originations, restructurings, exits, and portfolio company matters
  • Oversee preparation and review of K-1s, partnership returns, RIC filings, withholding (8804/8805, 1042-S), FATCA/CRS, and international tax forms (5471, 8621, 8865)
  • Oversee quarterly and annual federal and state partnership tax allocations, income tax provisions and estimated payments for domestic and foreign blocker corporations
  • Prepare quarterly RIC and REIT income and asset diversification compliance tests and excise tax analysis for BDC and REIT vehicles
  • Review and prepare annual multistate withholding tax calculations including 1441 FDAP, 1445 FIRPTA, 1446 ECI, and review of 1042S and 8805s
  • Maintain tax basis calculations for funds and limited partners
  • Coordinate with external accounting, tax, legal, and other service providers on return filings, quarterly market discount calculations, and annual ASC 740 analyses for all funds
  • Coordinate with external tax advisers and respond to investor inquiries
  • Contribute to process improvement and scalability initiatives, including mentorship of junior tax professionals
  • Identify tax issues and monitor new tax developments, providing guidance on regulatory and emerging matters affecting credit strategies (e.g., 1940 Act, PFIC/CFC rules)
  • Interact with members of the finance, operations, legal, compliance, and deal teams
  • Assist the tax team in servicing the firm’s various business lines as applicable
Job Requirements
  • Proven ability to communicate and interact professionally across functions
  • CPA or CPA track a plus, but not required
  • Industry experience and exposure to credit funds, CDOs, BDCs/RICs, real estate funds, and REITs required
  • Strong multitasking and project management abilities, able to prioritize and problem solve
  • 5-7+ years of tax experience, public accounting background preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
  • Commercial, technically strong mindset with a propensity for process improvement and creativity
  • Attention to detail and time management skills
  • Ability to thrive in a lean, entrepreneurial, and high-exposure team environment

This role is based in New York City with a five-day in-office work schedule.

The annual base salary range is up to $500,000. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
