Judge Direct Placement is seeking a Director of Accounting & Finance in the NYC Metro area! The ideal candidate will demonstrate technical excellence, a strong command of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting, and the ability to lead large-scale accounting functions in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization.
Responsibilities- Direct global accounting operations, including general ledger, consolidations, intercompany processes, and fixed asset management.
- Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of consolidated financial statements in compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting standards, and SOX requirements.
- Collaborate with the Chief Accounting Officer to lead quarterly and annual external reporting, including preparation of 10-Qs, 10-Ks, earnings releases, and supporting disclosures.
- Provide expert technical accounting guidance on complex transactions such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, capital structures, revenue recognition, lease accounting, and hedging activities.
- Maintain and enhance a robust internal control framework, driving SOX compliance and continuous improvement of accounting policies, procedures, and systems.
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Treasury, Tax, Legal, and Operations to ensure alignment on accounting matters and support strategic business initiatives.
- Lead accounting due diligence, integration efforts, and policy harmonization for acquisitions and other strategic transactions.
- Build, develop, and retain a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, providing insight into financial reporting, business implications, and risk considerations.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is required - MBA or master’s degree in accounting or finance is strongly preferred.
- CPA certification is required
- Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements
- Experience leading global accounting operations within a publicly traded company.
- Demonstrated expertise in technical accounting issues, including revenue recognition, business combinations, leases, and complex financial instruments.
- Strong background in accounting for mergers, acquisitions, and integrations.
- Proven track record of building and developing high-performing accounting teams.
- Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, including the Board of Directors and external auditors.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Significant project management experience, with a demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional initiatives with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Strong customer service orientation and business partnership mindset.
- Energetic, self-directed, and analytical problem-solver with the ability to gain alignment and drive results across functions.
