A New York-based SEC-registered investment adviser focused on global healthcare investing is seeking an Execution Trader to serve as the primary internal trading resource across two long/short equity funds covering worldwide healthcare and emerging markets healthcare strategies.
This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. You will manage all aspects of trade execution across global equity markets, oversee an outsourced trading desk relationship, and own the full trade operations lifecycle — including daily settlement coordination with an outsourced trade operations vendor and prime brokerage management.
The ideal candidate brings strong execution instincts, deep knowledge of trade operations and settlement, and the drive to build and improve workflows in a lean, technology-forward environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Execution- Execute stocks, ETFs, futures, and derivatives on behalf of portfolio managers across US and international markets
- Receive and review orders from portfolio managers; book in OMS and route to execution counter parties
- Oversee and manage the relationship with an outsourced trading desk as primary execution counter party
- Maintain and develop sell-side broker relationships across healthcare-specialist and general equity desks
- Monitor global market conditions, sector dynamics, and pricing trends in real time; provide market color and dynamics to the investment team
- Participate in morning research/trading meetings and provide market updates
- Support options and equity derivatives execution in coordination with specialist counter parties
- Own daily trade operations: review EOD blotter and completed orders reports from OMS; reconcile vs execution counter party confirmations
- Oversee outsourced trade operations vendor for T+1/T+2 settlement across both funds; monitor and resolve breaks in a timely manner
- Coordinate with sole prime broker on allocations, margin, custody, and settlement across global markets including restricted markets
- Ensure all trades are accurately booked in the OMS with correct fund allocations and commission schedules
- Monitor corporate action events; confirm elections and deadlines with operations counter parties
- Conduct pre- and post-trade cost analysis for the investment team to ensure a detailed understanding of trading activity
- Apply and document best execution standards on all orders in line with SEC fiduciary obligations and firm ADV brokerage practices
- Review daily TCA reports; monitor execution quality metrics by broker and flag outliers to senior management
- Support compliance with trade documentation, exception logging, and audit-ready record keeping
- Lead or assist in technology and research initiatives to improve trading desk efficiency and workflow
- Leverage AI tools to automate and improve trade workflow, reporting, and exception management
- Maintain and improve trading desk procedures and playbook as workflows evolve
- Collaborate with COO/CTO on technology and infrastructure improvements across trading and operations
- Minimum 3 years of experience as an execution trader in a buy-side environment
- Demonstrated experience in long/short equity execution, including managing broker relationships and optimizing execution quality
- Thorough understanding of trade operations and the full trade settlement lifecycle (T+1/T+2, break resolution, corporate actions)
- Working knowledge of prime brokerage operations and sell-side relationships
- Proficiency with Bloomberg Terminal (AIM, IB, market data) and an institutional OMS
- Knowledge of best execution requirements and fiduciary standards for SEC-registered investment advisers
- Ability to monitor global markets, sector trends, and pricing dynamics in real time — comfort with healthcare and biotech names a strong plus
- Strong counter party relationship management across brokers, prime broker, and operations vendors
- Experience managing or coordinating with an outsourced trading desk
- Experience with Enfusion OMS
- Familiarity with transaction cost analysis tools (e.g., Trade Zoom / Ablenozer or equivalent)
- Experience with international and emerging markets execution, including restricted market protocols
- Equity derivatives and options execution experience
- Hands-on experience integrating AI tools into trading or operational workflows
- Python or data analytics skills — useful for reporting and workflow automation
