Job PurposeBrit Box International is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Director of Finance. As a key member of the global Finance team, you will be responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial operations for Brit Box North America. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, preferably within the media or entertainment industry. This hands‑on role will ensure that accurate financial statements are provided to leadership and BBC Studios Finance on a timely basis.
You will serve as an integral business partner to Senior Management and your FP&A colleagues. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of accounting principles, manage competing priorities, and pivot between detailed reconciliations and analysis to a bigger picture strategic view.
- Oversee actual reporting for both central BBC Studios Finance teams and Brit Box teams and departments
- Oversee the accounting operations performed by both onshore and offshore teams, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Manage financial operations for Brit Box North America, including system access and controls, PO and payment run approvals, customer and vendor compliance, and maintaining the governance hierarchy.
- Lead the month‑end and year‑end close processes, ensuring timeliness and accuracy of overall activities performed by both onshore and offshore teams.
- Process owner for Global Revenue booking processes for Brit Box.
- Manage review / sign‑off process for balance sheet reconciliations performed by the outsource provider.
- Run monthly close meetings and present monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) to the Finance/FP&A team, providing commentary and analysis on month‑to‑month fluctuation drivers.
- Act as the key contact and provide support for both internal and external audit requests throughout the year.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of the industry and accounting policies & principles in coordination with BBC Studios Group Finance.
- Proactively identify opportunities for both onshore and offshore teams to implement process improvements and automation within the accounting function.
- Prepare and present relevant analyses in support of the Finance and wider organisation.
- Manage relationships with key external partners/vendors, including banks, payment processors, and distribution partners, ensuring all compliance obligations are met to support successful ongoing operations of key partnerships.
- Liaise with BBCS finance teams, including tax, accounts payable, credit control, and treasury teams.
- Oversee cash flow management for the business and work with internal and external banking teams on cash flow, compliance, and controls.
- Qualified accountant (CPA, ACCA, CIMA, etc.) / advanced degree in Accounting
- 10+ years of public/private accounting experience, with a focus on leading and developing a team into mature financial advisors with a focus on customer service.
- Demonstrated history of implementing business process improvements by leveraging modern, flexible tooling including Airtable, Leapfin.
- Experience with SAP S/4 HANA and BPC.
- A strong desire to explore how AI and automation tools can support a more efficient and effective accounting operational function.
- Prior media, content, or SVOD experience.
$160-180k base salary + competitive benefits + bonus potential.
All candidates will be measured based on their level of experience.
