Senior Auditor, US Capital Markets

What you'll be doing

As a member of the CIBC US Internal Audit Team, under the direction of the Audit Manager, the Senior Auditor conducts risk-focused audits, advises business units on the design, implementation and maintenance of internal controls, and promotes compliance with CIBC policies, accounting standards, control policies and applicable legislation.

• Apply advanced concepts to develop and complete monthly audit reports, quarterly audit reports, and ongoing legal‑entity reports.
• Assess the adequacy of controls and develop realistic solutions to control‑identified weaknesses using best practices.
• Resolve complex matters independently and advise business partners on best practices to mitigate short‑ or medium‑term risks and exposures.
• Focus on the US Capital Markets business with opportunities to expand into other audit portfolios.

• Audit execution: assess key business risks and evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of related processes and controls; identify and communicate internal control weaknesses and inefficiencies to business line management.
• Teamwork facilitation: collaborate with audit management and other audit team members to plan and execute risk-based audits, report audit results and perform continuous monitoring of management's control environment; participate in internal projects to improve and simplify audit processes.
• Project management: effectively manage multiple audit assignments at different stages of the audit cycle and complete required tasks on time; communicate regularly with the team and manager to provide updates on progress.

• Experience in planning and executing audits.
• Comprehensive knowledge of auditing practices, accounting standards, regulatory requirements and risk‑management principles; knowledge of Capital Markets within a large financial institution.
• Bachelor or equivalent degree in Business, Accounting or Finance and a professional designation (e.g., CFA, CPA, MBA, CIA, FRM, CRMA) or equivalent business experience.
• Detail-oriented, critical-thinking, communication, collaborative and inclusive mindset.

• Competitive salary ($95,000 - $120,000 USD based on experience, qualifications and location).
