Kroll's Financial Instruments and Technology practice is a leading valuation and advisory solutions provider for a range of clientele, which includes asset managers, hedge funds, fund administrators, banks, insurers, private equity firms, and investment firms. Our professionals have the opportunity to work on a wide range of valuation and advisory projects, covering a spectrum of financial instruments, which include structured products, portfolios of whole loans, alternative investments, private equity, esoteric assets and more.

Day-to-day

responsibilities
  • Experience with credit analysis, structured securities, and whole loan valuations: RMBS, CMBS, ABS, etc., Intex, Bloomberg, Andrew Davidson & Co., other tools
  • Technical strength in the valuation of a wide variety of asset classes, valuation theory, methodologies, applications, and fundamentals of constructing and reviewing valuation models and other financial models, and the financial theory underlying the models, including using DCF & market approaches, Monte-Carlo, and other bespoke approaches
  • Managing client engagements from day-to-day interaction with the client through to staffing and managing the resources and work plan through to timely completion
  • Individuals will be assigned a wide variety of projects and given as much responsibility as their experience and capabilities permit
  • Lead client engagements and work with more junior team members to execute valuation and analytics projects including client deal team interviewing, managing engagement economics, team management, developing and reviewing models, report writing, research and tracking market and industry information
  • Write technical reports, client-focused marketing materials, and presentations.
  • Operational relationship management with clients, building long-term client relationships through exceptional client service including a deep understanding of the client and their needs, exceptional responsiveness, and the delivery of the highest quality service and work product
  • Interviewing clients to gather data pertinent to the engagement
  • Developing deep technical strength in the valuation of alternative assets, serving as a firm resource for that expertise and sharing that knowledge through training and mentoring.
  • Field client questions, auditor questions, and investor questions. Articulate and defend a modelling approach under scrutiny.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's, in Finance, Mathematics, Statistics or a related quantitative discipline. Master's degree or further accreditation (e.g., CFA) is beneficial
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant work experience, which includes constructing and reviewing valuation models and other financial models including: DCF & market approaches, and other structured investment and whole loan models (Fewer years of relevant experience will be considered for candidates with higher academic qualifications, such as a PhD or a second Master’s degree)
  • Proven technical skills, proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience including managing and developing client relationships as well as mentoring and developing staff
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, comfortable speaking with senior management and in front of an audience
  • Ability to manage confidential, sensitive information
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to master new tasks quickly
  • Effective interpersonal, comprehension and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and strong personal integrity
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, work on multiple assignments in a team environment and balance long-term development priorities with short-term client deliverables
