Overview
Auditing seeks a diligent and dedicated professional who demonstrates critical thinking, a strong work ethic, integrity, and commitment to high-quality work. The Project Auditor is responsible for performing internal audits and advisory services, delivering objective, value added insights that support organizational goals. This role involves evaluating electric, gas, steam, construction, and other operations and supporting organizations to assess safety, efficiency, cost management, and compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, contractual requirements, and systems.
The Project Auditor contributes to the development and execution of risk-based audit plans, leads audit activities, and collaborates with team members to ensure audit work is performed in accordance with professional and ethical standards, including those established by the Institute of Internal Auditors. The position requires sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality, while effectively communicating results and providing actionable recommendations that enhance business performance and risk management.
ResponsibilitiesCore Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and execute moderate-to-complex audits across the full lifecycle (planning, fieldwork, reporting, and follow-up), often managing multiple audits simultaneously. Rotational assignments within other Auditing sections may be required.
- Assess risks, controls, and operations by evaluating control design and effectiveness, aligning audit objectives/resources, and applying appropriate testing strategies.
- Perform audit fieldwork using sampling techniques, data analytics, and computer-assisted audit tools to improve audit efficiency and effectiveness.
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate audit reports and review others work, ensuring deliverables meet professional standards with minimal revision.
- Maintain high-quality audit documentation (work papers) that fully support observations, conclusions, and recommendations in accordance with IIA standards.
- Conduct follow-up reviews to verify timely implementation of audit recommendations and support ongoing audit tracking processes.
- Demonstrate independence, objectivity, and adherence to ethical and professional standards, including conflict-of-interest and ethics attestations.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including presenting audit results and insights to management and representing Auditing on projects or committees.
- Lead and contribute to team performance by mentoring staff, supervising audit activities, collaborating effectively, and supporting departmental initiatives.
- Continuously develop technical and business knowledge, pursue training, and contribute to audit improvements, innovation, and broader organizational initiatives.
- Perform special assignments as required.
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant experience in auditing, business, or utility experience.
- Experience in organizations such as Electric, Gas, Steam, Construction, Substations, Supply Chain, required.
- Knowledge of company policies, procedures, systems, or business processes or equivalent audit experience, required.
- Experience in writing reports, giving presentations, and interacting with leadership in a clear and professional manner, required.
- High motivation, proactivity, and ability to coordinate multiple tasks to achieve team objectives, required.
- Ability to manage conflicts in a reasoned, persuasive manner. Recognizes the need for escalation to management for issue resolution and support, required.
- Performing data analysis and working with data analytics tools, preferred.
- Demonstrated analytical skills

- Well organized, detail oriented and flexible to handle multiple assignments
- Driver's License Required
- The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
