Role Overview

Director Latam FX Trading will provide timely and accurate dealing services for clients, manage the firm’s inventory and trading risk, and operate in compliance with all applicable regulations within a given business area.

Responsibilities are carried out under the framework of HSBC’s risk policies and the Three Lines of Defence. The role requires consistent display of HSBC values and adherence to risk, operational and compliance procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Effectively maintain risk positions within limits, providing liquidity and trade ideas to clients while trading within set limits to achieve revenue targets.
  • Ensure trading occurs within the Volcker designation of the business.
  • Manage buy and sell orders in cooperation with the sales desk, ensuring correct ticket entry and order routing.
  • Provide consistent and accurate pricing service to the sales force and clients, offering market information and guidance on transaction opportunities.
  • Be responsible for daily P&L sign‑off(s) for the trading book(s) managed.
  • Execute firm and customers’ trades in accordance with desk Volcker designation and contribute to the formulation of trading strategies.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of the product area, including market liquidity, volatility, pricing and trading strategies.
  • Develop and communicate a clear vision aligned with HSBC’s vision, values and goals, inspiring an inclusive, high‑performing, customer‑centered culture.
  • Lead, develop and motivate the leadership team to attract, retain and develop talent, ensuring succession planning and delivery of business objectives.
  • Set expectations, share best practice and manage, monitor, coach and develop leaders to maximize performance and meet standards.
  • Establish and maintain a robust control environment, ensuring good operational, financial and project management and compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, and proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of management information, analysis and reporting frameworks that support timely and effective business management and decision‑making at all levels.
