Citi's Equity Research team is looking for an Equity Research Senior Associate to support a senior analyst covering the Upstream Energy sector. In this role, you will work alongside a senior analyst to develop research publications, maintain financial models, and engage with clients and company management teams, strengthening the quality and independence of Citi's equity research coverage.
Responsibilities- Support a senior equity research analyst covering Upstream Energy by contributing to all research processes, from financial modeling to publication.
- Develop and maintain detailed financial models for Upstream Energy companies, including earnings forecasts, relative value analyses, and scenario‑based frameworks.
- Assist in authoring equity research products such as earnings previews and recaps, initiation reports, and thematic deep‑dive notes, ensuring high analytical rigor and clarity.
- Respond to client inquiries from internal stakeholders and external investors, delivering timely and well‑reasoned analytical perspectives on covered companies and sector trends.
- Coordinate investor events, including management meetings, company field trips, and expert consultant calls, ensuring seamless execution and a strong client experience.
- Synthesize complex, multi‑source data into actionable investment insights that support the senior analyst’s views.
- Uphold the highest standards of compliance, ethical conduct, and regulatory adherence in all research activities.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in equity research or a closely related financial analysis discipline, supporting senior analysts on complex coverage.
- Solid foundation in accounting principles and financial modeling within an equity research context.
- Direct experience working alongside senior equity research analysts throughout the research publication lifecycle.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, capable of presenting complex ideas clearly to institutional clients and internal stakeholders.
- Active FINRA licenses: SIE, Series
63, Series
86, and Series
87 (or commitment to obtain upon hire). - Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Skills & Qualifications
- MBA, graduate degree, or CFA designation.
- Sector‑specific knowledge of Upstream Energy, including exploration and production dynamics, commodity markets, and valuation frameworks.
- Experience engaging directly with company management teams or institutional investors in a research or advisory capacity.
- Exposure to global institutional clients and cross‑regional research collaboration.
- Support toward obtaining and maintaining FINRA licenses, with access to learning resources and regulatory guidance.
