Location: New York

Role Summary

  • Conducts accounting services for assigned clients and complex Private Equity (PE) funds including determining net asset values (NAV), calculating fund performance, allocating expenses and preparing reports.
  • Manages PE‑specific workflows such as capital calls and distributions, commitment tracking, investor‑level allocations (including side letters), carried interest/waterfall computations, and management/performance fee calculations.
  • Drives service improvement and operational efficiency by enhancing processes, implementing methodology updates, and performing specialist review functions.
  • Provides guidance and quality checks for junior team members’ work and serves as a subject matter resource on complex reconciliations and reporting.
Impact
  • Calculate NAV and fund performance metrics accurately and on time; validate inputs, models, and results, and resolve exceptions.
  • Allocate fees and expenses in line with fund documents and accounting standards; prepare and review client reports and management information.
  • Lead cash and asset reconciliations for complex accounts/transactions and resolve atypical breaks.
  • Interact regularly with clients to address queries, explain fund reports, and resolve accounting process issues.
  • Assists in evaluating GAAP and/or IFRS rules to determine impact of new regulations on BNY’s fund accounting practices; support updates to methodologies, controls, and documentation.
  • Provide guidance to less experienced team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • 5-7 years of relevant fund accounting experience preferred. Candidates with less experience may be considered for Associate-level roles.
  • Familiarity with common PE structures (GP/LP, SPVs, co‑investments, feeders/masters) and fund lifecycle activities (vintages, extensions, wind‑downs).
  • Proficiency with fund accounting systems and Excel; ability to analyze large data sets and reconcile complex transactions.
  • Foundational AI literacy (prompting, verification, error detection), with a focus on responsible usage in financial workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills with a client-service mindset; capable of drafting clear, accurate client reports and responding to inquiries.
  • Experience at Big 4 accounting firm is preferred.
  • Business-level proficiency in Japanese (written and spoken) is an advantage.
