Are you an established Private Equity Fund Controller with in-house experience who is ambitious, intellectually curious, and looking to build the experience needed to step into a CFO role within the next 5–6 years?
This is an outstanding opportunity to join an established and growing Private Equity firm in NYC, where the CFO is seeking a strategic right-hand partner and future leader.

This firm believes finance and accounting should be deeply integrated across the organization. You will work closely with deal teams, marketing, operations, and leadership to understand the full picture of how the business operates — and how accounting impacts the broader firm.
You are someone who naturally asks:

You’ll be involved in meetings across the firm and gain exposure far beyond traditional fund accounting responsibilities. This is an entrepreneurial environment with significant visibility, learning, and long‑term growth potential.

- Understands how deal activity impacts accounting and reporting flows across the firm
- Values KPIs and understands their importance to business performance
- Has strong communication skills and understands how to communicate effectively internally and with investors
- Enjoys wearing multiple hats in a collaborative, flat organizational structure
- Overseeing day‑to‑day fund operations and accounting
- Reviewing the work of fund accountants and ensuring accuracy and efficiency
- Managing financial reporting and audit processes
- Driving automation initiatives, process improvements, and scalability efforts
- Managing vendor relationships
- Providing reporting insights for portfolio companies
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Ensuring compliance with GAAP, tax reporting, and regulatory requirements
- Supporting fundraising initiatives and investor‑related activities
- Collaborating cross‑functionally with teams across the firm
- 8–15 years of Private Equity Fund Accounting or direct buyout private equity experience
- Experience reviewing the work of other accountants
- Waterfall calculations
- Carried interest
- Various fund structures
- Audit management
- Fund administration
- Tax processes
- Prior public accounting/audit experience strongly preferred
- Prior management or leadership experience preferred
- CPA preferred but not required
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Team‑oriented with strong communication skills
- High integrity, professionalism, and accountability
- Bachelor’s Degree required
