Senior Associate – SEC Reporting & BDC Finance

New York, NY or Boston, MA | Hybrid

Compensation: $110K–$125K Base + Bonus

This position offers a unique opportunity to support a large, publicly registered Business Development Company (BDC) with significant assets under management. The role combines SEC reporting, financial reporting, fund accounting, operational finance, and strategic initiatives, providing broad exposure to senior leadership, investors, auditors, and cross‑functional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation, review, and reconciliation of SEC filings, including Forms 10‑K, 10‑Q, 8‑K, and proxy statements
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and investment company reporting requirements
  • Review financial statements, disclosures, and supporting schedules prepared by third‑party administrators
  • Maintain SEC reporting calendars, disclosure checklists, Workiva/Wdesk workflows, and filing support documentation
  • Oversee monthly and quarterly close processes, NAV reviews, reconciliations, and administrator deliverables
  • Perform management fee, incentive fee, and fund accrual calculations and analyses
  • Prepare recurring financial reporting packages, NAV bridges, roll forwards, leverage analyses, and management reporting
  • Analyze complex investment activity, including PIK income, OID, restructurings, valuation adjustments, and non‑accrual investments
  • Coordinate with auditors, fund administrators, legal, compliance, tax, investor relations, and investment teams
  • Support SOX readiness initiatives, internal controls documentation, and future public company reporting requirements
  • Assist with Board materials, strategic projects, process improvements, automation initiatives, and reporting enhancements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in public accounting, asset management, fund administration, private credit, private equity, hedge funds, BDCs, or financial services
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience supporting recurring close, audit, reporting, or fund administration processes
  • CPA or active pursuit of CPA preferred
  • Experience with SEC reporting, public company reporting, or investment company filings is highly desirable
  • Big Four public accounting experience preferred
  • Exposure to debt investments, private credit, bank loans, PIK income, OID, and valuation reporting is a plus
  • Experience working with third‑party administrators and internal control environments preferred
