ABOUT THE ROLE
A growing real estate investment platform is seeking a senior accounting and finance leader to oversee accounting, financial reporting, SEC reporting, budgeting, forecasting, valuation support, and finance operations.
This individual will serve as a key strategic partner to executive leadership, working closely with investment, asset management, capital markets, and investor relations teams. The role offers a unique succession opportunity with a clear path to CFO within 12-24 months for the right candidate.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead all corporate and property-level accounting and financial reporting activities.
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
- Direct SEC reporting activities, including quarterly and annual filings and related disclosures.
- Perform technical accounting analysis related to acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, consolidations, and other complex transactions.
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes.
- Develop financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic business decisions.
- Partner with investment and asset management teams on portfolio performance analysis and valuation initiatives.
- Support capital allocation decisions, liquidity planning, and investment committee initiatives.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and other third-party service providers.
- Enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and reporting processes to support continued growth.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting and finance team.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA required.
- 12+ years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, and finance experience.
- Significant experience within REITs, real estate investment management, or real estate private equity environments.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and real estate accounting.
- Experience overseeing public company reporting and financial statement preparation.
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and strategic finance.
- Experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, and complex transaction accounting.
- Exposure to portfolio valuations, NAV analysis, and real estate performance reporting preferred.
- Proven ability to partner with executive leadership, investment professionals, and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
- Experience managing auditors, advisors, and cross-functional finance initiatives.
