As a C&I Relationship Manager, you’ll take ownership of building and expanding a strong lending portfolio across SMB clients in the Greater New York and New Jersey markets. You’ll be at the center of deal origination, credit structuring, and relationship development—helping drive both growth and sound risk decision‑making.
What You’ll Do- Source and develop new SMB relationships focused on working capital lending
- Structure and execute commercial credit transactions with sound risk discipline
- Lead preparation of credit packages and portfolio reporting materials
- Evaluate credit, risk, and financial performance of new and existing opportunities
- Provide independent credit perspectives to ensure strong, profitable decision‑making
- Monitor portfolio performance and proactively manage credit quality
- Partner with internal teams on joint client calls to deepen relationships and support cross‑sell opportunities
- Help shape pricing, structuring, and overall deal strategy with a risk‑aware mindset
- Formal credit training is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (advanced degree or MBA preferred)
- 10+ years of progressively complex experience in finance or credit
- 5+ years of direct C&I lending experience ($1M–$10M loan size range)
- Strong expertise in credit underwriting, risk assessment, and commercial lending products
- Experience with capital call lending and venture‑backed lending is a plus
- Established client relationships and referral network in the market
- Strong ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders
- Sharp communication skills with a confident, relationship‑driven approach
- Deep understanding of credit, industry risk, and regulatory frameworks
- Comfortable making independent, sometimes contrarian credit decisions when needed
