Senior Hedge Fund Controller

Overview

Brown Brothers Harriman Capital Partners is recruiting a Senior Hedge Fund Controller for the Capital Partners Fund Finance team. The role oversees a team of Fund Controllers who manage accounting, financial reporting, and tax reporting for BBH Private Funds which include hedge funds, real‑estate funds, fund of funds, and private credit funds.

• Review and own the monthly financial reporting received from service providers for the BBH Private Funds.
• Lead the annual audited financial statement function for each Fund, including footnotes, workbooks, audit deliverables, and resource allocation.
• Develop a deep understanding of each underlying private security and advise on tax leakage consequences.
• Own the development and implementation of accounting policy for the Private Funds.
• Manage the annual production of tax estimates, tax returns, and K‑1s for all Private Funds.
• Oversee the Fund’s monthly, quarterly, and annual deliverables.
• Own expense management for each Fund and enforce a strong internal control environment.
• Review Fund analytics such as IRR and performance metrics for reporting.
• Calculate management fees, incentive allocations, capital calls, distribution calculations, and redemption payments.
• Coordinate the set‑up of new Funds and the liquidation of closing funds.
• Review Fund‑level legal agreements in connection with initial Fund set‑up.
• Assist portfolio managers with ad hoc requests and present at senior‑level internal meetings.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders (Risk, Compliance, Legal, Client Service, Marketing).
• Train, manage, educate, and motivate team members; set goals and manage performance.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 10+ years of relevant experience with partnership accounting skills, investment company accounting familiarity, and review of audited financial statements.
• CPA (or equivalent) preferred with Big4 experience.
• Strong understanding of K‑1 and partnership tax reporting.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to work independently.
• Strong communication skills to resolve issues with service providers.
• Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and manage deliverables.
• Real‑estate fund accounting expertise is a plus.

Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 (NY) plus annual bonus opportunity. BBH’s total rewards package includes base salary, discretionary bonuses, profit‑sharing, long‑term savings, healthcare, income protection, professional development, and time off.
