Within Aflac’s Global Investments, the Private Assets Operations teams works within the US Chief Operating Officer Group in support of private assets managed internally and externally. The position will work in support for all middle and back office operational processes which primarily includes supporting senior members of the team with funding requirements and wire processing, cash management, reconciliations, and documentation management related tasks within the existing governance and control environment.
The role will also include cross‑training with other Operations teams within GI and collaborate with colleagues in Columbus, GA (Corporate) and Japan Operations teams as directed by management.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with senior team members of private asset operations to support front office portfolio management team responsible for private debt and alternative assets for externally managed mandates.
- Assist in performing daily operational activity to support funds and separately managed accounts activity across structured private credit, middle market and real estate debt mandates, private equity and real estate equity funds, and other asset classes (i.e. CLOs, ABS, infrastructure debt).
- Proactively monitor daily portfolio activity, ensure timely issues identification and resolution, and communicate critical information between internal teams, external managers and service providers.
- Communicate timely and in a detailed manner with front office, data management, legal, operations and accounting regarding private assets deal closing, terms and discrepancies.
- Communicate with agent banks, issuers and trustees regarding payment information and details.
- Leverage agent notices and WSO to solve complex position discrepancies.
- Review documentation and pipeline of private deals to ensure funding planning and execution.
- Manage wires and track fundings, monitor ongoing interest, fees and principal payments.
- Review and interpret legal documents such as feel letters, indentures and credit agreements to ensure that securities are accurately set up.
- Monitor the physical custody workflow to confirm that managers are following agreed upon documentation delivery and custody requirements, and resolve any questions or issues.
- Support documentation management for private asset operations across the platform.
- Maintain close communication with custodians and issuers to monitor and analyze payment issues.
- As needed, support the monthly cash planning and management process.
- Serve as a contact for external managers’ service level agreements and reporting deliverables, liaise with internal stakeholders and external managers to address and resolve issues.
- Assist primary relationship manager with external service providers and/or external managers involved in servicing private assets mandates including assist with various ad‑hoc matters.
- Ensure proper operational controls are followed and maintained.
- Enhance operational procedures and controls as needed, and ensure that appropriate escalation and risk mitigation solutions are followed.
- Participate in the development of systems and process improvements, optimize current processes and look for opportunities for automation and efficiencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, mathematics, engineering, information systems, computer science or similar is required.
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience working in an operations capacity. Insurance company asset management experience a plus. Strong knowledge of MS Office:
