Description
The Actuarial Analyst will work within our Property Pricing team and will report to the Senior Pricing Actuary. This role is well suited for someone eager to develop actuarial and analytical skills in a collaborative environment while gaining hands‑on exposure to property insurance and reinsurance pricing.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities required of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting the pricing of property reinsurance treaties and facultative programs
- Working closely with underwriters, actuaries, and technical specialists to analyze risk and support pricing decisions
- Working with property catastrophe models, including handling large datasets and interpreting model outputs
- Using catastrophe model results and other analytical inputs to help structure and evaluate various property products
- Assisting with portfolio analysis, business performance measurement, and risk insights
- Contributing to quarterly reserving and profitability reviews
- Supporting actuarial parameter studies such as loss trends, loss development factors, and increased limits factors
- Participating in ad‑hoc actuarial and analytical projects as opportunities arise
Requirements:
- 2–4 years of experience in a P&C actuarial role
- Pricing experience is a strong plus
- Progress toward actuarial exams, commensurate with experience level
- Proficiency in Excel, including working with large datasets using Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts, common analytical functions (e.g., XLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS, IF/IFS), and building clear charts and well‑structured models
- Proficiency in a large data query language (Snowflake, SQL, or Python) is more valuable than pricing
- Familiarity with Power Query and basic automation (such as macros or VBA) is a plus, but not required
- Exposure to property catastrophe modeling tools or large‑scale analytical datasets is beneficial but not expected
Trans Re is supportive of an agile work schedule, which may differ based on individual roles, local office practices and preferences, market trends, and Trans Re’s business objectives. This position is located in our New York City office and is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with 3 days in the office per week, and 2 days remote.
CompensationIn addition to base salary, for this position, Trans Re offers a comprehensive benefits package, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity. The anticipated annual base salary range in New York for this position, exclusive of benefits, paid time off, and incentive pay opportunity is $100,000–$135,000. This range is an estimate and the actual base salary offered for this position will be determined based on certain factors, including the applicant’s specific skill set and level of experience.
