Senior Fund Accountant / Assistant Controller
A well-capitalized and growing alternative investment firm is seeking a Senior Fund Accountant and Assistant Controller to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain broad exposure across fund accounting, investor reporting, and fund operations while working closely with senior leadership in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual fund close process.
- Prepare and review NAV calculations, financial statements, and investor reporting packages.
- Process capital calls, distributions, investor allocations, and waterfall calculations.
- Maintain fund general ledgers and support reconciliations across cash, investments, and partner capital accounts.
- Coordinate with fund administrators, auditors, tax providers, and other external service providers.
- Review portfolio activity and ensure accurate accounting treatment for investments.
- Assist with quarterly and annual audits, including preparation of supporting schedules and documentation.
- Support the implementation and enhancement of accounting processes, controls, and reporting procedures.
- Prepare management reports and ad hoc analyses for senior leadership.
- For Assistant Controller candidates, provide oversight of fund accounting operations and mentor junior team members.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Senior Fund Accountant: 4–6+ years of fund accounting experience.
- Assistant Controller: 6–10+ years of fund accounting, public accounting, or alternative investment industry experience.
- Experience with in Private Equity, Credit, Hedge Funds, or other alternative investment strategies.
- Strong understanding of NAV calculations, capital activity, investor allocations, and partnership accounting.
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements.
- CPA designation or progress toward CPA preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with fund accounting systems.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
