As Controller, you will own the accounting function end-to-end, ensuring the business has the financial visibility, operational rigor, and reporting accuracy required to scale confidently. You'll be responsible for the systems, controls, processes, and insights that help leadership make informed decisions across inventory planning, cash management, profitability, and long-term growth strategy.

This role sits at the intersection of finance and operations. You'll partner closely with the CFO, CEO, COO, Operations team, and external partners to build a best-in-class accounting function capable of supporting a rapidly growing direct-to-consumer business.

We're looking for a hands-on financial leader who is equally comfortable closing the books, building reporting infrastructure, analyzing inventory trends, and helping leadership understand what's happening in the business and why.

• Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting packages, and supporting analyses.
• Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and compliance procedures.
• Oversee bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax preparation, and audit support.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and other financial stakeholders.

• Partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning.
• Provide ongoing visibility into cash flow, working capital, and liquidity needs.
• Monitor business performance against budget and forecast, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Support executive decision-making through scenario planning, financial modeling, and profitability analysis.
• Develop reporting frameworks that help leadership understand financial performance at both the company and product level.

• Own all inventory accounting and cost accounting functions across the business.
• Maintain accurate inventory valuation, reserve methodologies, and inventory reconciliation processes.
• Partner closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and 3PL partners to ensure inventory accuracy and financial alignment.
• Oversee cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory audits, and monthly inventory adjustments.
• Monitor product margins, landed costs, fulfillment expenses, and cost-of-goods-sold performance.
• Develop reporting that provides visibility into inventory health, profitability, and operational efficiency.

• Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting, inventory, and reporting systems.
• Lead the accounting workstream for future ERP, inventory, or financial systems implementations.
• Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and operational efficiencies.
• Build scalable reporting infrastructure that reduces manual work and increases decision-making speed.
• Document and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

• Lead and develop the Finance & Accounting function.
• Manage internal accounting staff, consultants, and external partners.
• Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Help define future organizational need as the business continues to scale.

• 7 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within an e-commerce, retail, consumer products, or direct-to-consumer business.
• Experience leading accounting functions as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations.
• Hands-on experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and inventory valuation methodologies.
• Experience managing month-end close processes and preparing executive-level financial reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills including financial modeling, forecasting, and variance analysis.
