Job Overview

EY is a global professional services firm with a dedicated Financial Services Organization. In the Private Tax practice, we serve privately held companies and their owners and families, ranging from start‑ups to multi‑billion‑dollar enterprises.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead delivery of tailored tax advice and compliance solutions for complex family and business structures.
  • Support clients in wealth transfer, succession planning, and governance strategies.
  • Navigate challenges of multijurisdictional families and cross‑border tax matters.
  • Provide technical tax planning and advisory services to private entities and high‑profile individuals and families.
  • Manage and deliver processes, solutions, and projects with a focus on quality and risk management.
  • Guide and supervise professional employees to deliver complex technical initiatives.
  • Apply expertise to interpret internal and external issues, recommend quality solutions, and meet performance objectives.
  • Engage in client working sessions and travel as required.
Analytical and Decision‑Making Responsibilities
  • Develop solutions to complex problems.
  • Recommend changes to policies and establish procedures that affect your immediate work area and possibly the broader business function.
  • Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.
  • Translate complex data from a range of sources into client‑ready insights and deliverables.
  • Build effective long‑term relationships with clients, understanding their unique needs to provide tailored service.
  • Communicate complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.
  • Maintain reputation in the field by constantly updating and sharing technical and best‑practice knowledge.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of tax professionals, review work, and help confirm they have the knowledge, tools, and opportunities needed to excel.
Skills and Attributes for Success
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and deliver processes, solutions, and projects while maintaining a focus on quality and risk management.
  • Experience in continuous process improvement and identification of innovative solutions through research and analysis.
  • Proven ability to guide and supervise others to deliver complex technical initiatives, with accountability for performance and results.
  • Depth of expertise in interpreting internal and external issues to recommend quality solutions.
  • Track record of meeting performance objectives and metrics in client service, risk management, sales, and business growth.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (4‑year degree) in a related field, supported by significant tax, business, or financial planning experience.
  • CPA certification.
  • Licensed attorney.
  • Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.
  • Thorough understanding of estate and wealth planning.
  • Experience with federal and state personal and trust taxation.
  • Experience with flow‑through entities (S‑Corps, Partnerships, LLCs).
  • Experience with C‑Corps, including income tax provisions and consolidated federal and state tax returns.
  • Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and confidence to challenge senior colleagues and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Thorough understanding of automated tax processing systems.
  • Commitment to continuing learning.

  • Proven record in tax planning for owners and families.
  • Proven record in a professional services environment.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Ability to adapt work style to work with both internal and client team members.
  • Experience leading workstream delivery and tracking project status.
  • Ability to implement resource plans and budgets for complex initiatives.
  • Experience managing engagement economics and identifying opportunities for additional services.
  • Exposure to leading RFP responses and participation in client working sessions.
