The OpportunityWe’re partnering with a rapidly growing life & annuity business that's building a modern, tech-enabled insurance platform. They're looking for a hands-on Controller who can own financial reporting, build processes from scratch, and play a key role in shaping the finance function as the company scales.
You’ll report directly to the CFO and work cross‑functionally with actuarial, operations, investments, and distribution teams. If you’ve been looking for a role with real impact, visibility, and long‑term growth – this is it.
What You’ll Lead- Own US statutory financial reporting for multiple life/health entities
- Build GAAP accounting processes and support group-level consolidated reporting
- Oversee and grow a small accounting team while remaining hands‑on
- Lead journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and process development
- Partner with stakeholders across the business to ensure accurate, timely reporting
- Communicate complex technical accounting concepts simply and clearly
- Run the audit process and help develop accounting policies
- 10+ years of US insurance accounting experience (life/health strongly preferred)
- Deep experience with statutory reporting (Blue Books)
- Familiarity with GAAP for life insurers (ASC 944, LDTI, etc.) a plus
- Strong ERP experience (Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, Quick Books, etc.)
- Proven ability to build processes in a dynamic, high‑growth environment
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Leadership or team‑management experience preferred
- CPA is a plus but not required
