Role Summary
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) within Consumer Credit Risk plays a critical role in the design, implementation, testing, and ongoing support of credit risk rules and strategies that drive consumer lending decisions. This role supports the end‑to‑end lifecycle of credit risk rule development and validation, including credit line strategies, authorization rules, and adjudication actions across multiple risk platforms.
The AVP will partner closely with Credit Risk, Technology, Product, and Compliance teams to ensure credit risk strategies are accurately built, thoroughly tested, compliant with regulatory expectations, and stable in production. Depending on background and business need, the role may emphasize Rules Build and implementation or Testing and Validation
, while maintaining accountability for strong risk governance, control, and customer impact awareness.
Key Responsibilities
Credit Risk Rules Build & Implementation
- Analyze, design, and implement credit risk rules and strategies supporting credit line increase/decrease, authorization decisions, and credit risk decision actions (e.g., disclosures, letters, reason codes, adverse action requirements).
- Build, enhance, and maintain rules within credit risk decisioning platforms, including SAS‑based tools (e.g., SAS FMS / SAS Raptor).
- Execute unit testing for all rule build activities to validate logic, data usage, and outcomes prior to broader testing phases.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on Business Object Model (BOM) data used for rule execution, reporting, and analytics.
- Support production deployments, daily jobs, and monitoring processes to ensure strategies execute as intended.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues through root cause analysis and collaboration with technology teams.
Credit Risk Testing & Validation
- Develop and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test scripts for credit risk models, decision engines, and business rules.
- Validate the functional, operational, and regulatory accuracy of new and existing credit risk strategies prior to deployment.
- Oversee defect identification, tracking, resolution, and retesting, ensuring timely and accurate remediation.
- Ensure testing coverage reflects all relevant risk factors, decision logic, and compliance requirements.
- Continuously improve testing methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.
Risk Management, Controls & Compliance
- Ensure all pre‑ and post‑implementation activities meet internal policies and regulatory requirements related to credit risk, data usage, and customer protection.
- Maintain thorough documentation and audit trails supporting model and rules governance, testing, and ongoing monitoring.
- Partner with Compliance, Internal Audit, and regulatory stakeholders to provide transparency into risk rule implementation and validation.
- Contribute to governance and control frameworks that mitigate operational and technology risk in production environments.
Collaboration, Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
- Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to align credit risk strategies with business objectives and customer expectations.
- Monitor production platform performance to ensure stability, scalability, and minimal customer impact.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory expectations, and emerging technologies to inform strategy and process enhancements.
- Provide clear, concise reporting of testing outcomes, implementation status, risks, and metrics to senior stakeholders.
