Position

Summary

Sands Capital is seeking an Associate to join our Global Innovation Fund (GIF) Team with a focus on the technology sector. The GIF Team has invested in businesses such as Door Dash, Samsara, Ramp, Anduril and Flock Safety. This individual will support our experienced Partners and other investment professionals in evaluating new investments and monitoring existing investments in the technology sector for our private investment strategy.

The primary focus areas are innovative companies in the software, internet, and financial technology spaces. The Associate will mainly work on growth‑stage venture‑backed businesses but may also cover investments in public technology businesses.

Work Expectations

The role is based in our New York, NY office (must be a resident of New York state) and requires a hybrid schedule of three days per week in‑office or as directed. Occasional travel to Sands Capital’s headquarters in Arlington, VA is expected. The hybrid schedule may change at any time as directed by Executive Management.

Position Responsibilities
  • Conduct qualitative and analytical research to support the investment due diligence process;
  • Create and maintain financial models to evaluate prospective investments and monitor existing portfolio company performance;
  • Assist portfolio companies with strategically important topics by conducting surveys, customer calls, and general industry research;
  • Build an understanding of long‑term technology industry trends and develop subject‑matter expertise in subsectors of interest to the team;
  • Build relationships with management teams, executives, and investors at peer firms to generate investment ideas and deal flow;
  • Perform other professional responsibilities as needed;
  • Exhibit behaviors consistent with Sands Capital’s mission, values, and culture.
Position Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university;
  • A genuine and demonstrable passion for investing and technology;
  • 2–4 years of experience analyzing companies and industries, including investment banking, venture capital, private equity, sell‑side equity research, management consulting, and/or corporate development/strategy/finance (preferably at a technology company);
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Excellent networking and relationship‑building skills;
  • Exceptional work ethic and the ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner with a high degree of efficiency and accuracy without direct supervision.
Salary and Benefits

Sands Capital offers competitive compensation and generous benefits. For this role, the salary range is $125,000 to $175,000, determined by the candidate’s experience and relevant knowledge, skills, and abilities. Base salary is a component of total compensation. A discretionary, performance‑based bonus may also be paid, targeted as a percentage of base salary and varying by position and level. The actual bonus is based on achievement of quantitative and/or qualitative goals and the firm’s success.

This role may be eligible for carry‑over time. Benefits include medical, dental, vision discount program, life and personal accident insurance, short- and long-term disability insurance, flexible spending accounts (medical and dependent), paid holidays (NYSE), vacation, sick, and parental leave.
