A premier business advisory and accounting firm is seeking a Tax Director to lead and expand its tax practice serving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, business owners, and closely held companies. The Tax Director will serve as a key leader within the organization, providing technical expertise, overseeing complex client engagements, and driving the development of innovative tax planning strategies for affluent individuals and privately held businesses.
Key Responsibilities- Lead tax advisory and compliance engagements for high-net-worth individuals, family offices, trusts, estates, and closely held businesses
- Develop and implement sophisticated tax planning strategies focused on wealth preservation, business succession, and tax minimization
- Serve as a senior advisor and trusted resource to clients, executives, and business owners
- Review complex individual, partnership, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, trust, and estate tax returns
- Provide technical leadership on complex tax matters, transactions, and planning opportunities
- Build and maintain relationships with attorneys, wealth advisors, bankers, and other professional referral sources
- Mentor, develop, and oversee tax managers, senior accountants, and staff professionals
- Drive practice growth through business development, client retention, and expansion of advisory services
- Monitor tax law developments and communicate strategic implications to clients and internal teams
- Collaborate with firm leadership on strategic planning and long-term practice development initiatives
- 10+ years of public accounting tax experience with increasing leadership responsibility
- Extensive experience serving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and privately held businesses
- Strong expertise in individual, partnership, corporate, trust, and estate taxation
- Demonstrated success delivering advanced tax planning and advisory services
- Proven leadership experience managing teams, client relationships, and complex engagements
- CPA designation required;
Master's in Taxation, JD, or related advanced credential preferred - Exceptional communication, business development, and relationship management skills
- Strong technical tax research and strategic problem-solving abilities
- Ability to operate as a trusted advisor to affluent clients and business owners
- Executive-level leadership role with significant influence over firm growth and strategy
