Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced
Billing Manager to lead and optimize our client billing operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate, timely, and efficient execution of billing processes while managing a team of billing professionals. The Billing Manager will partner closely with Finance, Accounting, Client Services, IT, and other cross‑functional teams to maintain billing accuracy, improve processes, and support a best‑in‑class client experience.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in billing and operational finance, proven leadership experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for continuous improvement.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead the end‑to‑end client billing process, ensuring invoices are generated, reviewed, and distributed accurately and on time.
  • Optimize billing workflows to facilitate early invoicing and improve operational efficiency.
  • Manage billing across a variety of models, including fixed fee, hourly, licensing, commission, CPM, CPC, CPV, and CPA.
  • Ensure billing activities align with client contracts, company policies, and internal controls.
  • Support client audit requests and maintain audit‑ready billing documentation.
  • Analyze billing data and prepare reports to provide visibility into billing performance and status.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounting, Development, and Operations teams to improve reporting, data accuracy, and billing processes.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for billing systems, collaborating with IT and Development on enhancements and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end close activities, including reconciliations and billing‑related reporting.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Billing Specialists and Analysts, creating a collaborative and high‑performing environment.
  • Work closely with Accounts Receivable and Client Finance teams to support collections, onboarding, contract compliance, and issue resolution.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes, automate manual tasks, and enhance service quality.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive billing experience, preferably supporting complex or high‑volume billing operations.
  • 2+ years of direct people management experience leading billing teams.
  • Experience working with multiple billing models, including fixed fee, hourly, licensing, commission, CPM, CPC, CPV, and CPA.
  • Experience in advertising, media, marketing services, or other professional services environments preferred.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and advanced formulas.
  • Experience working with billing software and systems.
  • Strong understanding of billing operations, revenue processes, reconciliations, and financial controls.
  • Experience reviewing invoices for sales tax applicability is a plus.
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements, enhance operational efficiency, and maintain data integrity.

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $70,000 to $140,000. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility and qualifications.
