Salary: $77,050 - $96,313
Teleworking: one day per week (eligible for new hires 30 days after effective hire date)
The Senior Accounting Analyst - Revenue Compliance is responsible for preparing ticket sales analysis and revenue reports, developing audit techniques to detect system data trends and anomalies, investigating causes of irregularities, implementing corrective actions, and recommending improvements to current processes.
Responsibilities- Prepare ticket sales analysis and monthly revenue reports to aid management in decision‑making.
- Manage on‑board fares not paid or Commitment to Pay (CTP) system.
- Develop audit techniques, including analysis of system data trends and deviations from standards.
- Investigate and determine causes of irregularities and errors, implement corrective actions, and recommend process improvements.
- Formulate, publish, and update policies and procedures for revenue collection and reporting by train service employees and ticket sellers.
- Assist in testing and implementing data updates for Ticket Issuing Machines (TIMs).
- Collaborate with Station audit clerks to investigate discrepancies in ticket office machines (TOM) reports.
- Interact with departments such as Information Technology, Transportation, MTA Police, Stations, Public Affairs, MTA Audit Services, and with train service employees and ticket sellers regarding revenue questions and procedures.
- Participate in developing and implementing system enhancements, including migration to new databases and the Fare Go system.
- Participate in revenue orientation, field audit, and non‑compliance trial processes for train service employees as required.
- Knowledge of accounting systems and procedures (e.g., People Soft).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Access, Excel with pivot tables and VLOOKUP, Word, PowerPoint).
- Effective written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills across various departments and external contacts.
- Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to take control of tasks with limited supervision; detail‑oriented and organized.
- Ability to prepare accurate work papers, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) in accounting, finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of revenue or auditing experience in finance or similar areas, including database management, reporting, financial analysis, and reconciliations.
