Position OverviewA mission-driven non-profit organization is seeking a Finance Director to oversee financial operations, grant management, reporting, and revenue cycle activities. This leadership role will partner closely with executive management to ensure financial compliance, support strategic decision-making, and maintain the integrity of the organization's funding and reimbursement processes.
Key Responsibilities- Lead financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and grant management activities.
- Oversee a complex portfolio of federal, state, city, and private foundation grants.
- Ensure compliance with funder requirements and regulatory guidelines.
- Prepare and present financial reports for executive leadership and key stakeholders.
- Manage SCN billing and revenue cycle processes, including claims submission, receivable tracking, reconciliations, and denial management.
- Monitor grant expenditures and funding allocations to ensure compliance and maximize reimbursement opportunities.
- Partner with senior leadership on financial planning, operational initiatives, and strategic decision-making.
- Support audits, funder reviews, and year-end financial reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls and financial processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- 6-8+ years of progressive non-profit finance and/or grant accounting experience.
- Strong experience managing federal, New York State, New York City, and private foundation grants.
- Familiarity with funding agencies such as DFTA, DYCD, OTDA, and other government funders.
- Hands‑on experience with SCN billing, revenue cycle management, claims processing, and receivables reconciliation.
- Experience preparing financial reports and analyses for executive leadership and board‑level audiences.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables, and IF functions.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Experience with eMedNY and/or SCN Managed Care billing.
- Prior experience in a leadership role within a non-profit organization.
- Experience handling complex grant portfolios and multi‑source funding environments.
